Being early November, Art Ambassador proposed a morning of kite-building for the children. Elaborate barriletes seemed too complicated, so the traditional diamond shape kite called a cometa was chosen. Several dozen children from the village showed up that morning and eagerly crowded around the visiting artists. With donated supplies, and amusing gestures, the artists demonstrated how they might festoon their kite, all the time encouraging free choices by the young kite builders. Their kites were stunning! The use of colors, patterns, lines, and images was impressive. Even more, their absolute lack of inhibition was inspiring. Every child opened their imaginations and proudly created a masterpiece.
